Communication, at its core, is about sharing a concept or idea in a way that resonates with others and allows them to understand and relate. 


It is a relatively basic concept that, in today’s incredibly fast and noisy world of word and image soup, is arguably being lost.


Not intentionally, of course. Everyone wants to think of their message, their view, their mission, their product and service and expertise, as innovative, disruptive, unique, and clear as day. 


The problem is describing it that way. Because no matter how amazing, groundbreaking or breathtaking your product or service may be, and no offense here, it isn’t, at least not to everyone. 


As an excellent editor and mentor once shared: “There is no such thing - and no such word - as ‘unique.’” 


With the dizzying changes in modern-day communications that have blurred the lines between real and generated, there is one thing that continues to hold true above all else: authenticity. Telling it like it is. Being honest and upfront. Steering clear of jargon and cliches. Summarizing something complex into a succinct sentence or headline.
